Replacement product for TransLink is
Evolution Series™.

TransLink was a multi-frequency SDH microwave link solution that offered encryption in a robust, transportable unit with extreme environmental tolerance.

It was designed for special operations where mobility and rapid set-up were essential. The ODU was tuneable over the entire frequency range, from 4.4 GHz to the 5 GHz band normally reserved for military use.

The ODU was geared for outdoor operations but could also be mounted on a rack inside a vehicle or shelter. The connection between the ODU and the Indoor Unit (IDU) was a coaxial cable.

TransLink offered transmission capacity in the 50 Mb/s to 155 Mb/s range and multiple 155 Mb/s by daisy chaining radio units.

Details

The architecture was based on an indoor unit (IDU) with user interfaces and modem, and an outdoor unit (ODU) with microwave radio, plus a software tunable branching filter unit.

The IDU and ODU were interconnected by a coaxial cable with a maximum length of 300 meters. The ODU could also be mounted in a rack, with a waveguide or coaxial cable to the antenna.

TransLink offered:

  • Fast and flexible frequency shifting by software
  • Local and remote PC control
  • Scalable from 1+0 to 3+0 by adding units
  • Both RF filter and transceiver software tuneable within the whole 4.4 - 5.0 GHz band

Outdoor Unit  (ODU) transmission configurations:

  • 155 Mb/s in 40 MHz channels using 64 state modulation, in 28 MHz channels using 128 state modulation
  • 50 Mb/s in 28 MHz channels using 32 state modulation, in 14 MHz channels using 64 state modulation

Indoor Unit (IDU) interfaces:

  • 155 Mb/s electrical or optical
  • 3x34/45 Mb/s
  • 21x2 Mb/s without external mux
  • Ethernet 10/100BASE-TX, 1000BASE-T and 1000 BASE-FX (SFP)
