2008 outlooks for Nera in Africa look positive. Deliveries on a Euro 8 million contract with Maroc Tel in Morocco have started in July, together with a Euro 2,5 million contract with Mobile Telecommunication Ltd in Namibia.

The frame agreement with Maroc Tel was signed in December 2007 and has minimum value of Euro 8 million over three years. Nera will deliver a total solution, including over 500 Evolution Series radios, antennas, power supply and towers. In addition, Nera will provide services to the project that involves extending Maroc Tel's existing mobile- and fixed network in Morocco.

In Namibia Nera will deliver Evolution Series radios, some third-party equipment and services.

Largest Africa contract in 10 years
In March this year Nera signed a Euro 18 million contract with the government of Equatorial Guinea.
"Nera has a long standing history of doing business in Africa," says Odd Kåre Fossmo, Chief Sales Officer EMEA.
"We also enjoy a good reputation enabling us to compete for larger bids."

The turn-key solution in Equatorial Guinea involves the longest radio hop in Nera's history. The 243 km hop from the Bioko island to the mainland is also among the longest radio hops in the world.
