Nera signs EUR 15 million 5 year supply contract of Microwave systems to Polkomtel

Nera Networks Poland - a subsidiary of Nera Networks AS has entered a 5 year frame agreement with Polkomtel SA, Poland's largest mobile operator. The total project is estimated to approximately EUR 15 million. About 5,000 radios will be installed all over Poland within the duration of the agreement.

In order to cover Polkomtel's need for higher capacity in the backhaul infrastructure related to upgrade to HSPA+ and LTE services, Nera will supply, install and maintain Next Generation Network microwave systems. Nera will deliver the highly versatile product family Evolution Series, including Xpand-IP, Metro and LongHaul. The product handles PDH, SDH and native IP - or a combination of these, both for Access and for Long Haul trunk systems.

Polkomtel sees a great advantage in one common product covering all applications. The delivery of Evolution Series will lead to an easier system of maintenance and quality control, such as spare part stock and handling, as well as the operation of network and training of the staff.
