Nera Networks AS, a leading provider of microwave transmission solutions, today announced that it has started shipments of long distance high capacity all-packet radio, Evolution Series IP Long Haul. Nera is the first vendor in the industry to start deliveries of multichannel all-IP long haul radio.

Nera Networks today announced the Evolution Series XPAND IP, a 1.6Gbps microwave radio platform for wireless backhaul applications. The XPAND IP platform allows carriers to migrate to cost-effective and high-performance IP backhaul networks thanks to a unique aggregation node capability that integrates IP and legacy networks.
Nera Networks has signed a contract with a major telecom operator in South America. The contract is for delivery of Evolution Series (TM) microwave radios and services for 270 hops, and 121 upgrades. The estimated contract value is NOK 45 million, and delivery is expected to take place in 2(nd) quarter 2010.
The agreement means Nera Networks will provide design, equipment and implementation- and operation services for parts of Uninors transmission network.
