Government & Defense
Nera Networks has completed the first part of the project of the Bulgarian Ministry of Interior for the establishment of a secured communications network in Bulgaria.
The integrated communication system provides high speed secure communication of video, voice and data from the Ministry of Interior to the South-east Schengen border and the harbours of Bulgaria.
The solution was demonstrated in Sofia in the presence of H.E. Mrs. Tove Skarstein, the ambassador of Norway to Bulgaria and H.E Michail Mikov, the Bulgarian minister of interior, by a live video connection between the participants in the presentation and the strategic border point 'Capitan Andreevo'.

The Bulgarian minister of interior Michail Mikov and Nera Networks CEO Per Arne Henæs are both happy with the cooperation and the final result.
"The establishment of a secured national communications network is of crucial importance for the Ministry of Interior. It is of great national interests to built a communication network which supports the EU requirements for Schengen enlargement," minister Michail Mikov stated.
"It is also essential for the MOI fight against the organized crime, as it controls our communication lines and prevents the leakage of information."
The CEO of Nera Networks AS, Mr. Per Arne Henæs, talked about the development of the modern and secure telecommunications solution and emphasized on the immediate benefits for Bulgaria from the project.
"I will ensure our commitment to the Ministry of Interior and Bulgaria, and I guarantee that the project will be fulfilled on time. And the final solution will probably even exceed your expectations,” Mr. Henæs said during the presentation.
With the creation of the security system Nera will contribute to the protection of the Bulgarian and the external Schengen borders of the European Union.
